Remove stem and scoop out the underside of each mushroom. Brush the caps with oil and sprinkle with pepper, dried garlic, dried parsley and onion powder.
Place mushrooms into the air fryer basket.
Adjust the temperature to 400°F and set the timer for 8 minutes.
When the timer beeps, remove mushrooms from the basket and place on a cutting board or work surface. Using two forks, gently pull the mushrooms apart, creating strands.
Place mushroom strands into a 4-cup round baking dish with barbecue sauce. Place dish into the air fryer basket.
Adjust the temperature to 350°F and set the timer for 4 minutes.
Stir halfway through the cooking time. Serve warm.
